Display Your Children’s Art

By Matthew Shelley

Children’s art projects come into your home in many forms. Elevating those treasures beyond the refrigerator pinup is a great way to add fun, meaningful style to your home décor.

Dallas artist and father of two, Bob Poe, arranges several of his 3-year-old daughter’s drawings into a collage behind an oil painting of her, combining his own art with hers.

“You would think you were destroying her art by repurposing them and tearing them up, but you’re actually turning them into something much more enduring instead of just stacking them away to look at later,” says Poe about his project.

Even if you’re not an artist, there are other simple and inventive ways to display your child’s art beyond the magnets.

Easy ways to display children’s art

  1. Coffee table album. Purchase a photo album and insert drawings or paintings that accumulate over the years to maintain a growing collection that can be enjoyed forever and kept in place for everyone to see.
  2. Tabletop collage. Freestanding photo clips of varying sizes can be used on any table to display your child’s masterpieces in the fashion of a pinup garden of art that’s quirky, spontaneous, and easily changeable.
  3. Hanging mobile. Purchase a hanging photo clip mobile and attach your child’s drawings or paintings. This new focal point will be a moving display that’s perfect for any child’s room.
