Low-Cost Bathroom Renovations

By Paula Felps

Bathroom renovations on a budget may seem like a paradox. While many rooms can be given a new look simply by rearranging the furniture, the bathroom is not quite that flexible. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t still renovate your bathroom without breaking the bank.

No matter how large or small your bathroom is, there are a few simple ways to give it a new look. From changing up the color scheme to changing out the fixtures, quick fixes that can breathe new life into your bathroom space.

Simple bathroom upgrades

So, you can’t afford to move the bathtub or change the look of the counter  – that doesn’t mean you can’t dress up your bathroom. Start with these ideas:

  • Change colors! Painting the bathroom not only livens up the space, but it can completely change its mood as well. Go with what’s hot at the moment (remember, gray is the new tan) or pick a color that suits your style. And of course, new paint means you’ll want new towels and accent rugs to complement the new color. Learn more about painting here.
  • Use mirrors. Mirrors can make a small space seem larger, or can provide dramatic effects in larger spaces. Try grouping odd-sized mirrors together on a wall, or use one large mirror that will serve as a focal point — and also be quite useful!
  • Add moulding trim. Install a chair rail and other moulding trim around the room and you’ll create a unique new look. You can find the moulding at your local home improvement store, and you’ll be surprised how dramatically it changes your bathroom space.
